The Rosalie E. McGowan collection consists of an audiocassette and transcript of an oral history interview conducted between McGowan and Wendy L. Pearson during the fall of 1988. McGowan worked as a teacher from 1957 to 1980. In the interview, McGowan discussed her experiences as a special education teacher at Union School and Lincoln Junior High School in Mankato, Minnesota. She focused on her life and career, students, administrators, parents, teacher organizations, mainstreaming and how her expectations remained constant throughout her years of educating students. This oral history interview was conducted as a requirement for the graduate level Educational Foundations course entitled History of Education in American Culture at Mankato State University in Mankato, Minnesota.
